Connect Codex to Mempipe
To connect Codex to Mempipe, copy the codex mcp add command from your Space’s MCP Endpoint page and run it in your terminal. Then run codex mcp login with the server’s name, and sign in to Mempipe in the browser window that opens. Codex can then search and read the files in that Space and cite them in its answers.
Before you start

- A Mempipe Space with files in it, and the Mempipe account you use to open it. See Upload files to a Space.
Add Mempipe to Codex
Section titled “Add Mempipe to Codex”-
Copy the command.
In Mempipe, open the Space. Choose Pipeline in the left rail, then MCP Endpoint. Choose Add beside Codex, then Copy command. The command looks like this, with your organization and Space in place of
ORGandSPACE:Terminal window codex mcp add mempipe-ORG-SPACE --url https://api.mempipe.ai/v1/@ORG/SPACE/mcp
Mempipe's Add to Codex window has the command for this Space. -
Run it in your terminal.
Codex saves the server in its settings for every folder. The Codex IDE extension and the ChatGPT desktop app share these settings, so the server appears there too.
Newer versions of Codex open your browser to sign in to Mempipe as soon as the server is added. If yours does, finish signing in as step 3 describes, and you don’t need to run
codex mcp login. -
Sign in.
Run
codex mcp loginwith the server’s name from the command:Terminal window codex mcp login mempipe-ORG-SPACEYour browser opens Mempipe. Sign in if asked, then on Allow this client access to Mempipe? choose Approve access.
To let Codex save notes and wiki pages, tick Create and replace Markdown, SQL, and chart files in this Space before you approve. What a connected AI can read and change explains the choice.
-
Ask a question.
Start Codex and type
/mcpto check that the server is listed. Then name the server in your request:Use the mempipe-ORG-SPACE MCP server. Search my files for what they say about [topic], and answer with the citation links it returns.
Codex’s answers now link to the passages it used, and each link opens the passage in Mempipe. Open a citation and check its source shows what to check.
To build a wiki in the Space with Codex, see Build an LLM wiki with Claude Code or Codex.
If something goes wrong
Section titled “If something goes wrong”- The terminal says
codexis not found. Install the Codex CLI first, then run the command again. - Codex can’t use the server’s tools. Run
codex mcp login mempipe-ORG-SPACEagain and finish signing in. - The sign-in page asks for a password you don’t have. Choose Sign in on the Mempipe app and sign in there, in the same browser. Then run
codex mcp loginagain. See If the connection fails for other sign-in problems. - Codex says it has no tool to save files. You approved read access only. See how to add write access.
