Connect Claude Code to Mempipe

To connect Claude Code to Mempipe, copy the claude mcp add command from your Space’s MCP Endpoint page and run it in your terminal. Then start Claude Code, run /mcp, and choose the Mempipe server to sign in to Mempipe and approve access. Claude Code can then search and read the files in that Space and cite them in its answers.

  • Claude Code, installed on your computer.
  • A Mempipe Space with files in it, and the Mempipe account you use to open it. See Upload files to a Space.
  1. Copy the command.

In Mempipe, open the Space. Choose Pipeline in the left rail, then MCP Endpoint. Choose Add beside Claude Code, then Copy command. The command looks like this, with your organization and Space in place of ORG and SPACE:

    Terminal window
claude mcp add --transport http mempipe-ORG-SPACE https://api.mempipe.ai/v1/@ORG/SPACE/mcp
The Add to Claude Code window on Mempipe's MCP Endpoint page, with the claude mcp add command for the Research Space and a Copy command button
Mempipe's Add to Claude Code window has the command for this Space.
  2. Run it in your terminal.

Run the command in the project folder where you use Claude Code. Claude Code adds the server for that folder only. To use it in every folder, add --scope user after claude mcp add.

  3. Sign in.

Start Claude Code and run /mcp. Choose mempipe-ORG-SPACE and follow the prompt to sign in. You can also sign in from your terminal with claude mcp login mempipe-ORG-SPACE.

Your browser opens Mempipe. Sign in if asked, then on Allow this client access to Mempipe? choose Approve access.

To let Claude Code save notes and wiki pages, tick Create and replace Markdown, SQL, and chart files in this Space before you approve. What a connected AI can read and change explains the choice.

  4. Ask a question.

Back in Claude Code, name the server in your request:

Use the mempipe-ORG-SPACE MCP server. Search my files for what they say about [topic], and answer with the citation links it returns.

/mcp now shows the Mempipe server as connected. Claude Code’s answers link to the passages it used, and each link opens the passage in Mempipe. Open a citation and check its source shows what to check.

To build a wiki in the Space with Claude Code, see Build an LLM wiki with Claude Code or Codex.

  • The terminal says claude is not found. Install Claude Code first, then run the command again.
  • Claude Code doesn’t list the server. You added it in a different folder. Run Claude Code in that folder, or add the server again with --scope user.
  • /mcp shows the server needs signing in. Choose it and sign in again.
  • The sign-in page asks for a password you don’t have. Choose Sign in on the Mempipe app and sign in there, in the same browser. Then run /mcp again. See If the connection fails for other sign-in problems.
  • Claude Code says it has no tool to save files. You approved read access only. See how to add write access.

Still stuck? Email hello@mempipe.ai with the message Claude Code showed.

To sign Claude Code out of Mempipe but keep the server, run claude mcp logout mempipe-ORG-SPACE. To remove the server, run:

Terminal window
claude mcp remove mempipe-ORG-SPACE
