Connect an MCP client

Bring your knowledge to an agent you already use. Connect it to a Mempipe Space so it can search your files, read your notes, and answer questions with evidence.

You need a Space and a client that supports remote HTTP MCP connections and Mempipe sign-in. MCP Endpoint has setup instructions for supported clients; availability can depend on your plan or organization settings.

The connection is limited to one Space. On connect your agent can search and read. Creating and replacing Markdown, SQL, and chart files is a separate approval at sign-in, off by default; leave it unchecked and the agent cannot save changes to your wiki. Choose a client you trust: it can use your Space’s content in its model requests.

  1. Open your Space’s MCP settings.

In Mempipe, check the Space in the top bar. Choose Pipeline → MCP Endpoint under Serving. Each Space has its own connection URL.

  2. Choose your client.

Under Connect a client, choose Add beside your client and follow the instructions. For another compatible client, expand Manual configuration and use Copy URL with its remote HTTP setup.

  3. Sign in.

Follow the client’s browser sign-in flow with the Mempipe account that can access this Space. Review the requested access. Use Mempipe sign-in, not your chat provider’s API key.

  4. Ask a question.

Once connected, replace the topic and question below:

Use the connected Mempipe Space. Read my notes about [topic] and search the original files. Answer [question] with citations using the links returned by Mempipe. Tell me if you cannot find evidence.

  5. Check the evidence.

Open a citation in Mempipe and read the passage in context. If it points to a wiki page, follow that page’s source citations to the original evidence.

Ask follow-up questions and compare the answers with your saved notes. After checking the evidence, update the relevant page: edit it yourself, ask the in-app agent, or, if you approved write access when you connected, ask the external agent to save the findings and citations to the page. A read-only connection cannot save changes.

Review the saved page. Your next conversation can start from that updated knowledge, whichever connected agent you use.

  • No custom-server option: check your client’s remote MCP support and organization settings. Use a setup offered on MCP Endpoint.
  • Access denied: confirm you can open the same Space with the same Mempipe account. Ask your organization owner if you cannot.
  • Space or organization renamed: copy the current URL from MCP Endpoint and reconnect.
  • Files appear but search is not ready: the connection works; follow the processing guidance.
  • A citation will not open: sign in with access to the Space and ask the agent to copy the returned link exactly.
  • The agent cannot save a page: the connection was approved as read-only. Reconnect and tick write access at sign-in, or use the in-app wiki guide to make changes.

To stop access through this client, disconnect or remove the Mempipe server in its settings.
